Marden Edwards Petri Provides Solution for Multi Packs of Flip Top Boxes

Post date: 15 April 2007

Packaging machinery company Marden Edwards has recently supplied a WR200s high wrapping machine for a customer who manufactures confectionery products packed into flip top boxes.

Flip top boxes have traditionally been overwrapped and sold as individual packs with the use of overwrapping to enhance the appeal of the product. In the case of this flip top box, where the lid simply clicks into place after cartoning, the purpose of the overwrap is to keep the lid from damage and ensure the continued freshness and shelf appeal of the product inside.

Varying Pack-Size Collations, Machine Versatility

The customer specified maximum machine versatility. As well as wanting to wrap the individual flip top box, the ability to produce 2, 3 and even 4 packs collated together was required. As can be seen from the enclosed photograph, special buy one get one free promotions use of printed film to convey the marketing message without the need to alter the carton.

The product is wrapped on a high speed WR200s overwrapper with print registration system and integrated tear tape applicator unit. This machine has the capability to wrap at speeds of up to 150 packs per minute, and is the smaller version of the faster WR200 overwrapper. It uses an innovative in-feed system to achieve maximum transfer time before the product is wrapped in a six station turret.

The WR200 is just one of a number of overwrapping machines that Marden Edwards is exhibiting at Total during May 2007.
